Port Chuffing Risk Estimator
This tool estimates peak port air velocity and projected risk of audible chuffing for flared ports in subwoofer enclosures. The formula used is V (m/s) = (2 * π * f * Xmax * Vas_total) / PortArea_m2, where Vas_total = Q * Sd (Sd in m², Xmax in m). This provides a standard approximation for max particle velocity near tuning Fb. Assumes flared design (threshold ~35 m/s). Low risk: velocity ≤25 m/s (green); Medium: 25-35 m/s (yellow); High: >35 m/s (red). Woofer diameter is used to compute effective Sd (assuming ~90% effective radiating area for cone + surround). Results are approximate; cross-check with WinISD or similar for your exact driver parameters and power levels.

Assembly Recommendations: For optimal adjustability, we recommend using high-quality packaging or shipping tape during assembly. Alternatively, once the ideal length is determined, PVC primer and cement may be applied for a permanent bond.
Port Inner Diameter (I.D.): The listed port I.D. is the measurement to use when calculating your enclosure specifications.
Surface Imperfections: Please note that PVC materials may exhibit minor blemishes or scratches on the outer surface, a characteristic inherent to the manufacturing process and beyond our control. These materials are not originally designed for this application, and such imperfections are typically concealed in their intended use. These surface marks exist prior to our acquisition of the materials.
Visible Surfaces: The inner surface and the face of the flare—areas typically visible in standard installations—will be free of the aforementioned cosmetic imperfections. However, faint lines may occasionally appear due to the moulding process.
Product Variation: As our ports are entirely handmade, slight variations may occur between individual units. We strive for consistency while preserving the craftsmanship that defines our product.
